About Us — Convenience Story
A South Asian convenience store owner is a familiar sight in any big city. Like many immigrants, they become the backdrop of the city, always there but often overlooked. We, however, knew them as our families—our uncles and aunts, our fathers and mothers. Those stores were always a symbol of something much more.
When our parents left their homelands and migrated, they traded their pride for possibility. They took jobs working in factories, drove cabs, opened restaurants and convenience stores. They gave up parts of who they were, hoping that we might one day build a life beyond just survival. What society reduces to a stereotype was, all along, a story of sacrifice, resilience, love, and legacy. A story that is worth celebrating.
Convenience Store™ is about reclaiming that story and celebrating the South Asian journey, heritage, and identity. For too long, others dictated who we were. Now, it’s time for us to tell our story.
